The Kensington Link is worked in two motifs: a crown and a cross.

The crown is sculpted rather than cut from a flat profile, which gives it height without bulk at the finger. The pavé runs over the entire surface, including the inner faces of the points — the detail nobody sees straight on. It is made under full diamond pavé and in pink sapphire worked edge to edge, every stone matched for tone before it is set, because a coloured stone has no brilliance to hide a variation behind.

The cross is drawn long rather than square: a narrower crossbar and an extended lower arm, so it sits against the sternum rather than across it. It is made diamond-set on the Kensington Link chain, and in solid yellow gold without stones. The plain version is the harder one to get right — there is nothing to distract from a line that isn't true. The reverse of each piece is finished to the same standard as the face, because a pendant turns as it is worn.
